This major gives students a chance to explore the fundamental laws of physics and to learn more about the universe, space-time, energy, and interaction between them, and, of course, the way that these laws can be used in our every-day life.

This particular undergraduate program focuses on fundamental physics and is designed as a base for other disciplines connected to physics and other natural sciences’ courses and engineering majors.

In the course of this undergraduate program, students discover not only the essential principles of physics and mathematics, but also learn to apply their knowledge and to efficiently solve particular problems in specific research areas that the students are interested in. During the third year of studies, our students need to choose a certain major out of the following options: theoretical physics, quantum field theory, optics and spectroscopy, plasma physics, information processes and systems.

The studying process consists of various courses including the ones taught by the professors of the Faculty of Physics and the ones from other departments of our university. Moreover, our graduates have a unique chance to work in the research laboratories in various institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Our faculty prepares sought-after specialists with a vast range of opportunities for future careers.
